What is Kaizener’s Make-a-Thon?

Make-a-Thon is a Hackathon EXCLUSIVELY for all the students who finished Kaizen Robotics Program.

Participants (students and working professionals alike) from colleges and MNC’s across Chennai will be assigned a mentor to work on some great (and not so great) ideas. Make-a-Thon serves as a platform for individuals to try out new ideas and collaborate with other people in a fun environment to create real-time solutions.

By the way! did we mention you need to have no other prerequisites except being a Lema student! Mentors will guide you from start to finish.There is also a CASH PRIZE for best solutions.

Step 1:

Register yourself by filling the entry form before 09 Dec 2017

Note: You don’t have to submit your proposal when you signup. You can submit the proposal by 16th December.

Step 2:

Pick a topic from the list mentioned here or choose your own topic. Send one page write up about the idea to us before 16th Dec 11:59 PM.

Email your abstracts to kaizen[at]lemalabs.com, with the subject “Make-a-Thon -Topic Name”. Eg: Make-a-Thon-Transportation

The jury evaluates your ideas. The best 20 teams will then be assigned a mentor and be invited to Make-A-Thon on 23rd and 24th Dec 2017 at Thought Works, Chennai

Pi Beam Labs

  • Low-cost solution for determination of load acting upon an area of a vehicle
  • Steering angle determination for differential drive systems

  •  Energy Scavenging systems – how to generate power at low cost using vehicular movement on road, the systems also need to be waterproof
  • An image processing library to identify whether a car(4 wheeler) or motorbike (2 wheeler) is
    parked at a particular parking slot – may be the tool can work on a group of 5 or 10 slots
    simultaneously. So that we can deploy one IP-enabled camera for multiple slots. It could be
    PZT Camera then it can serve a whole floor or a Zone in a floor.

    1. A library will be developed in Java with an image processing algorithm
    2.  A library will be developed in Python by using TensorFlow for object recognition
      and neural networks
  • An image processing library to identify the type of car: Small ( nano, Ritz, etc.,) ; a Sedan ;
    or an SUV;

  • The library can consider both video and image input for object recognition, the library can
    also, have an ability to count density of vehicles in a given image/video

  • Real-time tracking and prediction of groundwater table for water management system using IoT

You are also free to pick out your own ideas, apart from the topics listed above

  • Each team may consist of up to 5 members.
  • Each team must submit a proposal for an application that they will be able to implement within the given time frame.
  • Top 20 teams will be shortlisted to participate in Make-a-Thon.
  • The teams will be asked to implement their proposal with a few changes within the given time frame.
  • Points will be awarded for speed and robustness of the implementation.
  • The shortlisted teams need to pay a participation fee of Rs.600 per person to participate in the Make-a-Thon on 23rd and 24th December.(You DO NOT have to pay any fee to apply and for sending your abstracts)

 Teams must submit a one-page write-up in the following format:

  1. Core idea and implementation procedure
  2. Details of sub-modules/systems
  3. Equipment to be used
  4. Impact of project
  5. Results and possible Development
